Splendid

Monday, November 30, 2009
We just started to carry the brand Splendid. It's INCREDIBLY soft. It's that level of softness that makes you want everything in your closet to be that soft. It's like butter! Only believe it or not, better.

They have cute sleepers for infants and super adorable shirts for the boys. They have girl clothing within the Splendid collection, but we think the boy is their strength. And face it, we all know that there is way more of a selection out there for the girls. So move over ladies, time for the gentleman to get a wardrobe addition or two!!!

Infant pj's with little stars.

Red Striped Hoodie.

Everyday charcoal hoodie & a stripe infant sleeper.

Our Fiddlesticks Mascot! We were out buying our Xmas tree this past weekend, and I had to post this picture. Mista Charlie Leu at 19 months. He is of course wearing a bit of Splendid!

With the young Architect in Mind...

We are very excited to announce that Fiddlesticks will be carrying Citi Blocs (formerly known as Kapla Blocks). Over the last few years we have been searching for the perfect building block, and until now nothing has compared to the wooden blocks we stock in our play area that were actually recycled packaging. We've spent a lot of time trying different blocks and talking to parents about what they would like in a block set, and now we have what we consider to be the best block sets EVER!!!

Citi Blocs is unique in the respect that each piece is the same size and shape- which allows for more complicated building, taller structures, and is more open ended for the creative mind. These blocks can inspire the entire family, from the eight year old who wants to recreate San Francisco's tallest buildings and towers, Dad building that hot rod he still dreams of, and the two year old who just wants something established quick so they can knock it over.

As always we try to stock the best possible choice for the environment as well as our families- and Citi Blocs is no exception. These blocks are cut from Grade A. Radiata Pine from renewable forests in New Zealand, are not chemically treated, and have even won green toy awards.

Citi Blocs is the perfect addition to every one's family- especially those with limited space as they come in small sets that can be mixed and matched to create the perfect building experience for your family. Now that we have Citi Blocs I'm actually looking forward to the rain- so that I can make some hot chocolate and nest in the house with my family-and build lasting memories with my new, super cool blocks.

Sprig Toys.

Monday, November 9, 2009

Thanks to green farming practices Sprig(wood) Toys has arrived!!! I am personally so excited about this toy company; they encompass everything a parent wants in a toy- great design, socially responsible, eco-friendly, and safe (no bpa, vinyl, pthalates, etc).

This toy company was started by three toy designers who were saddened after visiting factories where their toys were made. They saw the impact that the factories left on the environment and surrounding community. They also began to feel that too many toys were not encouraging children to be involved in play and required batteries. They vowed to change this.

Sprig Toys is made of recycled margarine containers and wood particles, which gives these toys a great texture and allows them to not use paint also cutting down on off gases. The toys all come in minimal packaging, and would look great in any ones living room, dining room, kitchen, etc. As we speak the dinosaur explorer is zooming through my house with my son, and little friends in tow.

Sprig Toys came into my life and now the store through a customers recommendation, and I can't recommend them enough- these toys are amazing. I'm pretty sure that Santa will be delivering Sprig to my house this year - how about yours???!!!
